Foreign workers: New List of Professions Admissible for Simplified Processing

On February 24th, 2016, the MInistère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI) published a new list of 54 professions admissible for Quebec’s simplified processing of Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications. Simplified processing allows employers to be exempt of having to demonstrate their recruitment efforts in support of an LMIA application.

This list was established by the MIDI in collaboration with Emploi-Québec in function of the 2006 National Occupational Classification (NOC). It includes professions in the following fields, namely: information technology, healthcare, administration, engineering, and restaurants.

The new list entered into force on February 24th, 2016, but concerned applicants may continue to invoke the previous 2015 list during a transition period of thirty (30) days beginning February 24th, 2016.

We invite you to contact us for more information regarding the new list of professions.
